Windscreen and glass replacement
Some insurance companies and independent garages do not use genuine Volkswagen replacement windscreens. A Volkswagen approved windscreen is designed to pass numerous tests, from resistance to stone chips and scratches, to extremely stringent shatter and crash tests, which gauge the reaction of the glass during more serious impacts.

A correctly fitted Volkswagen windscreen will assure optimum safety and reduce body flex. Apart from the possible safety implications of using a non-Volkswagen windscreen, the use of a non-genuine part could also have a detrimental effect on the glass sealing, which allows moisture to enter the vehicle and flexing of the body, cause irritating noises, rattles and vibration. If replacing any glass in your vehicle, insist that only Volkswagen Original Parts are used.

Windscreens do not have to be changed for every minor scratch or stone chip. It’s estimated that 40% of all windscreen damage is repairable. Most scratches and stone chips to windscreen glass can now be repaired using Volkswagen recommended repair materials. Volkswagen technicians are able to perform a repair, often within an hour.
