Keeping you heading in the right direction
As a new vehicle, your Volkswagen’s wheels and suspension are perfectly aligned for optimum safety and handling. Over time, potholes, kerbs and rough road surfaces affect the alignment of your wheels, causing uneven or accelerated tyre wear – hence compromising the handling and safety of your Volkswagen.

The good news is that Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Service dealers have invested in the latest 4-wheel alignment measuring equipment, containing the latest software for your vehicle. Our Volkswagen trained technicians know and understand the suspension of your vehicle and are able to check and adjust your vehicle’s wheel alignment quickly and accurately – saving you money by increasing tyre life and improving fuel economy, but most importantly maintaining the safety and handling of your vehicle.

Tyre checks
As advised in your owner’s manual, on modern vehicles with extended service intervals, checking tyre condition has become an expected part of the owner's responsibility. We recommend that tyre condition and pressures should be checked on a weekly basis, or in any case, before a long journey. In addition to checking tyre pressures it’s vitally important that you regularly check your tyres for damage and unusual tyre wear.

Why worry about regular tyre checks?
Healthy tyres are one of the most important safety features on your vehicle. The accepted legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm, but at this point your tyres are putting you and other road users at greater risk. As tyres wear, the tread depth reduces, which in turn has a detrimental effect on tyre performance and vehicle safety. Independent research shows that worn tyres significantly increase the risk of an accident in the wet. It is recommended you change your tyres when the tread depth reaches 3mm, which gives 25% better performance, or typically 8 metres of stopping distance in wet conditions at 50mph, when compared to tyres with the legal minimum tread depth.

How we can help
If you need help checking your tyres, contact your Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Service dealer who will be happy to report on their condition. If replacements are required, your local dealer will be able to supply, balance and fit tyres (and of course offer wheel alignment), as well as ensuring environmentally friendly disposal of your worn tyres – in fact we’re able to offer the best one-stop-shop available for your Volkswagen.
