Maintain you Volkswagen’s shine
Regular washing and waxing helps to maintain the value of your vehicle by keeping it looking like new. Care of your vehicle's bodywork is also a requirement in terms of making an appropriate warranty claim, in the unlikely event of you encountering defects to your paintwork or body protection. Frequent washing and waxing also protects your vehicle against contaminates such as bird droppings, tree sap and salt, which if left on the surface of your vehicle can cause lasting damage to your paintwork.
Washing
We suggest you remove substances like insect and bird droppings from the surface of your vehicles as soon as possible. Volkswagen have developed a range of high quality and competitively priced van care products to help maintain and protect your paintwork. By adding Volkswagen washing wax to your bucket, you’ll ensure that you’re treating your vehicle to the best possible care. And when it comes to drying-off your vehicle, you’ll find that a Volkswagen chamois leather is the perfect companion.
Waxing
Regular waxing protects the paintwork of your vehicle from atmospheric contaminants and will also protect against minor scratches. You need to apply a regular protective wax coating to your vehicle. If water does not form small droplets that run off your paintwork, then it’s time for a polish. Even if a wax solution is used when washing your vehicle, it’s still advisable to protect the paintwork with a coat of hard wax at least twice a year.
Tips for exterior care
• Never attempt to remove dirt, mud or dust if the surface of the vehicle is dry.
• Never use a dry cloth or sponge for cleaning purposes – this can damage the paintwork or glass on your vehicle.
• Soak dirt, mud or dust with plenty of water before starting the washing process.
• Clean the vehicle with a soft sponge, glove or a brush. Start with the roof and work your way down. Use only light pressure, rinsing the sponge thoroughly and often.
• Clean the wheels and sills last to avoid transferring heavy mud or grit onto your vehicle’s bodywork.
• Rinse the vehicle thoroughly with water.
• Dry the paintwork carefully with a chamois leather.
Tips for interior care
• Use a clean, damp cloth to clean plastic trim. If this does not provide satisfactory results, use a special solvent-free plastic cleaner.
• Clean wooden trim with a clean cloth moistened with water. If this does not provide satisfactory results, use a gentle soap solution.
• Clean cloth seat covers and fabric trim on the doors, and headliners with a special interior cleaner, or with dry foam and a soft brush.
• Clean leather with a soft cotton cloth using a small amount of water. Stubborn dirt or stains can be removed using a mild soap solution. Do not let the water soak through the leather or into the seams. Dry leather seats using a dry and soft cotton cloth.
• Leather should be cleaned and conditioned every six months to ensure it does not crack or deteriorate.
